Kinzua Bridge - once tallest and longest bridge in the world

Kinzua Bridge, located in Pennsylvania (McKean County), was considered to the one of the tallest and longest railway bridges in the world. Unfortunately it collapsed in 2003.

The following pictures show the bridge before and after it had collapsed.

It was officially ranked as the fourth tallest railroad bridge in the United States. One interesting thing about this bridge is that it was built in just 94 days by less than hundred workers. When it was built in 1882 it was the longest railroad bridge until another similar bridge was built in France in 1885.

It took 1500 tons of wrought Iron for its construction. But still the short duration for construction was due to the fact that scaffolding was not used in its construction. I really do not understand how such a tall bridge was constructed without the help of any scaffolding structures.

When it broke it was due to a tornado. A century after construction it couldn’t withstand any winds. The bolts at the base were rusted. The storm nearly shook the part of the bridge laterally. It was left as it is after collapse so as to show the tourists the power of nature.

How do you go for a vacation plan?

We all tend to take vacations once or twice a year to take a break out of daily tight schedules. There can be several reasons why different people take vacations at any point of time. Given the demands of family, friends and society one often finds no time to enjoy the nature.

Some people just go for a vacation to bring about some change in their thoughts and lifestyle or to bring about some paradigm shift. Whatever may be the reason eventually we need to plan for a way of transportation to reach the destination and even we will depend on some form of vacation rentals to stay there. Often vacation rentals come with different advantages and disadvantages.

The main advantage one may get with the Daytona vacation rentals is that it is a free service mapping travelers with hotel managers to book the vacation rentals. Anyone who has taken vacation most often, realizes the need for a place to book hotels online. The Myrtle vacation rentals does exactly serve that purpose with no additional costs involved between the traveler and the middle-man.

New development in Video Conferences

We see that there is a continuous evolution of technology in our daily life applications. With the evolution of internet even the relationships are redefined. Whatever the technology does it always increases the comfort in our performance. Now the recent developments in the way we conduct meetings have changed drastically.

Depending on the type and need of the business some people conduct meetings personally while some attend Video Conferences. Now to increase the comfort even further the Video Conference itself can be done online using a web browser similar to any online activity. This not only eliminates the burden of installing unnecessary softwares but also allows us to have very short meetings to reduce expenses.

The megameeting allows us to conduct a web conference (video conference in a web browser) without the need to download and install any software. The cost associated with these are far lesser compared with other software based services. To have an idea, the cost per 5 persons for a web conference is $75 with megameeting whereas a video conference with competitors it is $375. This cost is for one month and unlimited number of meetings. To know more about it check here.

One must remember how the gmail was developed to allow us to chat with our friends without the need to install any software like a messenger (or gtalk). It is chatting through web browser. This is particularly useful if we go to a cyber café in a foreign place. This web conference is also similar to that in a way.

There is no need to wait till another development is made by the evolution of technology. Go for an affordable video conference with megameeting.

Canterbury Cathedral

Canterbury is famous for its Canterbury Cathedral. It is currently under restoration. Is is also a World Heritage Site. Its most ancient Church in England.

Canterbury Cathedral is the burial place of King Henry IV and of Edward the Black Prince, but is most famous as the scene of the murder of Thomas Becket in 1170. As a result of this event, Canterbury became a major pilgrimage site, inspiring Geoffrey Chaucer to write The Canterbury Tales in 1387 and with routes (eg from Southwark (Chaucer's route) and the Pilgrim's Way to/from Winchester) converging on it.
